In the additional to the traditional specialty 210102 "Radio engineering", new specialties - "Radio physics and electronics" (210101), "The Radio communication, broadcasting and a television" (210405) were established at the department. There was opened the MA course in a direction "Radio engineering" (210300).

At the department there are actively applied new informational technologies (such as electronic textbooks, interactive teach mode using PC, units of the remote learning with the application of the local area network, the automation of the control and process of education) to improve the quality of education and to practice self-dependence of educational process. Professors and students are free from chores. At the department there are contract form of study and the off-budget financing of educational process. New educational and methodological literature is published literature (including issuing with a signature stamp of Ministry of Defense).

The educational laboratory base (new personal computers , digital technique devices, SHF-devices, radio systems, radio measuring facilities) is permanently developed and upgraded.

New forms of vocational guidance works are used (college, radio and a television, press publishing , specialized hobby-groups, etc.).

Specialists development is going according the plan: the schoolchild - the college student - the student - the engineer (the bachelor, the master) - the candidate of sciences - the doctor of sciences.
