For many years researches in fundamental scientific directions are succesfully continued at the department: increasing the efficiency of difficult systems of a radar-location, radio navigation and telecommunication, CAD radio-electronic equipment. New scientific directions of department are application of electronics in medical and biologic (ecological) researches, automation of management of a municipal transportation, fiber-optical devices and systems. Volumes of research reach 1 - 2 million a year.

Doctor's dissertational council and postgraduate study are opened at the department. The department takes part in the Federal target program: "Integration" in a direction "Digital processing of the information". Youth scientific school (on department) works together with IRE the Russian Academy of Sciences. There are spent expeditions together with ICR the Russian Academy of Sciences (including researches under the Russian Federal Property Fund projects to pool of Black sea for sounding of environments by radio physical methods.

The Regional Center of collective using unique radio physical devices for sounding of environments is opened at the department. The branch laboratory of a communication facility "Range 101" successfully works. Among its workings out simulators of communication channels for China.

Research on department actively develops in directions - digital processing of the information, technician SHF and fiber optics, medical electronics, radio navigating systems. The Number of participants in research is annually of the order of 200 persons. New devices and software products in various directions of a radio engineering are actively developed. Within research new progressive modes of study - the interactive mode, the automated training and the control, remote forms, electronic textbooks and methodical grants were approved.

There are annual participations of students in university, regional and international scientific and technical conferences. The scientific potential of department constantly raises. 3 doctor's and 5 master's theses were defended during the last years.
